La Marzocco Comes to Mammoth

This past weekend we had the pleasure of hosting La Marzocco Home at Mammoth Espresso. La Marzocco’s Home division makes some incredible machines that are plenty capable for commercial applications, yet small enough to fit on your kitchen counter. When their staff asked to take over our production space for a one-day event, we were beyond stoked to partner up with one of the world's leading espresso machine builders.

The event was free and open to all, including coffee professionals, aspiring home baristas and simply the coffee-curious among us. La Marzocco’s staff led hands-on demonstrations where folks learned to pull shots and steam milk on three variations of La Marzocco Home machines.

It was an after-hours event for Mammoth Espresso, so we extended our typical weekend hours and put a few drink specials on the menu. We debuted Slaytorade, a cold brew concoction that splits the difference between sports drink and a New Orleans hurricane. We paired a house-made cherry lemonade with cold brew and garnished it with a twist of lemon, gummy shark and mini-skateboard. We also brought in several pints of Angelo Brocato’s pistachio and almond ice cream, which makes a really killer affogato. Both will be on our cafe menu this month while supplies last.

Head over to the La Marzocco Home website for more information about their espresso machines. We’ve used the Linea Mini extensively for pop-ups, catering events and training. The very new Linea Micra is an even smaller version of this machine, while the GS3 includes several features (like a manual paddle for custom pre-infusion) that are rarely found outside of full-sized commercial espresso machines.
