Espresso Basics Workshop - 4/26/23

It’s possible that no drink has captured the attention or imagination of coffee lovers more than the espresso. A simple drink - it’s only coffee and water, after all - and small in stature, the espresso is the foundation of a massive array of complex and creative beverages. This workshop features an introduction to espresso preparation, as well as a hands-on demonstration.

About this workshop

During this workshop, participants will learn how espresso is prepared and what distinguishes it from other brewing methods. Participants will also learn the variables involved in espresso preparation - including dose, yield, temperature, pressure and others - and how the careful manipulation of these variables can result it positive flavor characteristics. 

After a brief introduction and lecture, participants will have 90 minutes to learn from expert baristas on two models of espresso machines, and apply their new skills through hands-on application. This class is limited, so all in attendance will have ample time to use both espresso machines and receive one-on-one guidance from a trained professional.
