Vista al Bosque marks our return to producer Wilmar Castillo, whose Gesha we first featured in late 2025. We were impressed enough by the quality of that coffee that when another of Wilmar’s lots became available, we were eager to carry his remarkable coffee again.

Wilmar has been around coffee since childhood, working alongside his father and three older brothers throughout Huehuetenango. About 14 years ago, his family moved to Hoja Blanca, a small valley they had long heard described as especially well suited to coffee. Today, Wilmar manages Vista al Bosque, which translates to “Overlooking the Forest,” alongside his wife and son, with two of his brothers farming neighboring lots.

This lot combines Bourbon and Caturra grown between 1,610 and 1,900 meters. After harvest, the coffee undergoes a washed process with a 48-hour fermentation followed by 12 days of drying.

Vista al Bosque has a rich, chocolate character and plenty of fruit and sweetness alongside it. Dark chocolate and honey provide a deep, sweet foundation, while nectarine and cranberry bring a juicy stone-fruit character and a brighter finish. It’s a coffee that feels both familiar and lively.
