Sourced from 579 smallholder farmers in the Wanja Kersa community of Ethiopia’s Agaro region, Yukro is a stellar expression of western Ethiopia’s high-altitude terroir. Grown on small plots between 0.1 and 2 hectares (0.25-5 acres), the coffee is cultivated under shade from false banana and maize, in fertile sandy loam soils that naturally support high-quality production without the need for fertilizer.

The Yukro washing station was established as part of a broader investment in Western Ethiopia’s coffee infrastructure, an initiative that helped producers gain better access to markets and improve quality through upgraded equipment and training. Today, meticulous processing at Yukro yields clean, vibrant coffees. Coffee is mechanically depulped, soaked overnight, and dried on raised beds for 6–8 days with frequent turning.

In the cup, Yukro is crisp and elegant. Look for white grape acidity, sweet citrus brightness and a rounded stone fruit finish.

Yukro is produced by members of the Oromo community, where coffee farming is not just a livelihood but a deeply rooted way of life. Despite limited infrastructure and access to resources, the dedication of these producers shines through in the clarity, balance and consistency of the coffee they produce.
